The Champalimaud Foundation (Fundação D. Anna de Sommer Champalimaud e Dr. Carlos Montez Champalimaud), a private, non-profit research institution in Lisbon, Portugal, is looking for a Software Developer to join our team.
Work Plan
Play a crucial role in the development of software applications targeted for research and clinical areas, from conceptualization to implementation and maintenance;
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to produce software design for in-house developed products and integration with AI and machine learning algorithms;
Support and advise Champalimaud Research users on the usage, troubleshooting of different types of applications, computational systems and services.

Skills/Qualifications
Essential skills
– Proficiency in different programming languages and their respective ecosystems (e.g. Python, C#), with a strong emphasis on software development best practices;
– Experience with cross-platform application development, including desktop, mobile platforms (iOS, Android) and web, to ensure broad availability and distribution of research tools and applications;
– Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS and Google Cloud;
– Proficiency in version control tools such as Git;
– Familiarity with container orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes for building, deploying, and scaling containerized applications;
– Team player, self-motivated, proactive, creative and willing to work in a dynamic and multidisciplinary environment;
– Good organizational, planning and project management skills, allowing for task prioritization and focus on efficacy;
– Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, including scientists, clinicians, and other engineers;
– Excellent level of English.
Desirable skills that will also be considered
– Proven ability to think creatively and solve complex problems in a research-driven setting;
– Experience with data analysis and visualization tools;
– Familiarity with reactive programming concepts and frameworks, such as RxJS (for web) or Reactive Extensions (for C#);
– Knowledge of machine learning frameworks and algorithms;
– Experience in working with Unity3D, Unreal Engine or similar.
Eligibility criteria
– Master’s degree, or equivalent, in Informatics, Computer Sciences, or related areas;
– 3-5 years proven experience in a similar role;
– Business English proficiency level.
